For over fifteen years the members of the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society have wowed the public with awesome photography of celestial objects and events. For the next six months, eleven of Bill Buck’s images (and one by his son Michael) will flank the rotating 36-Day Display (which is seen on the Samsung monitor). Don’t miss this first of a collection of new displays to be seen at HRPO in anticipation of the facility’s twenty-fifth celebration in 2022.
The War that made our world—and saved our world—ended seventy-five years ago this summer. There are only a few veterans left. The Highland Road Park Observatory appreciates those who made (and keep) our skies free for leisure skygazing and the science of astronomy.
A variety of displays honoring the accomplishments of the military, politicians, artists and citizens of that troubled time will grace the main floor of HRPO through the first week in September.
