SUMMARY:Science Academy: "Uranus and Neptune"
DESCRIPTION:Close-up imagery of the “ice giants” were acquired via the Voyager spacecraft. Cadets will understand how the visits to the most-titled planet and the windiest planet in the Solar System revealed bizarre moon landscapes and characterized the entryway into the Kuiper Belt. [For ages eight to twelve. $5 per EBR-Parish Cadet; $6 per other-Parish Cadet.]

SUMMARY:Perseid Meteor Shower
DESCRIPTION:The Perseids are one of the major meteor showers of the year\, caused by debris left from the passings of Comet Swift-Tuttle. Come learn about meteors and let’s see if we can spot some “earthgrazers”. Although telescopes aren’t needed for the Perseids\, we’ll have a telescope available until midnight for leisurely gazing at other celestial objects. Look carefully and don’t take your eyes off the skies; Perseid meteoroids enter our atmosphere at about sixty kilometers per second! If you’re lucky\, you may see a fireball…. [For ages six and older. No admission fee. This event is a single four-hour viewing session.]
