Originating in HRPO’s early years as a weekly outdoor presentation, HRPO’s cornerstone program—now indoors—provides entertaining, intelligent and timely STEM talks to the citizens of the Baton Rouge area.
Perennially favorite speakers and topics are interspersed through the calendar year with surprising new guests and new concepts. No expertise in the physical sciences is required. The lectures are aimed toward a general adult audience. Most high-schoolers have no trouble enjoying them.
After the talk a question-and-answer session and a door prize giveaway take place. Then the 20OGS is open for viewing, weather permitting.
Please check the Calendar of Events for upcoming topics.
The mission known as the Highland Road Park Observatory is a joint partnership of BREC, LSU and the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society. Any opinion given by any speaker is not necessarily the opinion of any of the three partners.
