FRIDAY NIGHT LECTURE SERIES

7:30pm to 8:30pm

for ages fourteen and older / no admission fee

Originating in HRPO’s early years as a weekly outdoor presentation, HRPO’s cornerstone program provides to the citizens in the local area entertaining, intelligent and timely STEM-oriented talks.

Perennially favorite speakers and topics are interspersed throughout the calendar year with surprising new guests and new concepts. No expertise in the physical sciences is required. The lectures are aimed toward a general adult audience. Most kids over fourteen have no trouble enjoying them. There is no guarantee that a kid under twelve will be interested. Very young children are not allowed at the Friday Night Lectures.

The upcoming topics are listed in the Calendar of Events.

After the talk and question-and-answer session and a door prize giveaway take place, the 20OGS is open for viewing (weather permitting).

The mission known as the Highland Road Park Observatory is a joint partnership of BREC; LSU’s Department of Physics and Astronomy; and the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society. An opinion given by a speaker is not necessarily shared by any of the partners.
